L(+) lactic acid production and separation from dairy wastes(whey):in situe separation of lactic acid using lon-exchange resins in automatic control of PH.

Abstract:
Whey with a large amount of BOD(50000 PPM) is a dangerous environmental pollutant.this important source of lavtose(4-5%) is A USEFULL SUBSTRATE FOR A RANGE of fermentation processes.lacitic acid with swvwral applications in industries is one of these products.Specially L(+) isomer of this acid worthing 10 times as much as the mixture of L&D,is used in medical purposes such as absorbable surgical filaments and controlled release drugs.several strains of lactobacillus produce a mixture of L&D isomers but the strain employed in this research(lactobacillus casei)produces only L(+) form.the prodices lactic acid prevents acid production in fermentation,so that almost half of lactose (about 22 g/l lactic acid) is converted to lactic acid.therefore in order to increase the output the produced acid should be separated.in this research lactobacillus casei was used to produce L(+) lactic acid and due to strile conditions requirement in situe separation of acid using Ion-exchange resins at control automatic of Ph were employed.at the end, lactic acid yield in non extractive fermentation compared with extractive process showed an increase from 22g/l to 43.7g/l.the polarimetric analysis showed pure L(+) product.

Production of L(+) Lactic Acid using Lactobacillus casei from Whey
The aim of this work was to study the fermentation of whey for the production of L(+) lactic acid using Lactobacillus casei. The effect of different process parameters such as pH of the medium, temperature, inoculum size, age of inoculum, agitation and incubation time was monitored to enhance the lactose conversion in whey to L(+) lactic acid. Fermentations were performed without any pH control...

in this study, porous scaffolds from poly(d,l-lactic acid) have been prepared via liquid- liquid phase separation method in ternary system of polymer-1,4-dioxane-water. polymer dissolved in dioxane in 1.5, 2.5 and 5 % wt/v and the solvent/non-solvent ratios were 13/87, 15/85 and 17/83. cloud point curves prepared by visual turbidometry. in order to obtain porous scaffolds with inter-connected p...
full textIdentification and Characterization of Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated from Iranian Traditional Dairy Products
The lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are an industrially important group of probiotic organisms that play an important role in human health by inhibiting harmful and pathogen bacteria growth, boosting immune function, and increasing resistance to infection. This study aimed to isolate, identify, and biologically characterize probiotic LAB strains from Iranian traditional dairy products. A ...
full textDetermination of antibiotic resistance of lactic acid bacteria isolated from traditional Turkish fermented dairy products
In this study, the antibiotic resistance (AR) of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolated from traditional Turkish fermented dairy products was investigated. Yogurt, white cheese, tulum cheese, cokelek, camız cream and kefir as dairy products were collected from various supermarkets. Lactic acid bacteria such as Lactobacillus spp., Streptococcus spp., Bifidobacterium spp., and Enterecoccus spp. were...
full textSeparation of methacrylic acid from aqueous phase using quaternary amine
The feasibility of extractive reaction of methacrylic acid from aqueous solution using a quaternary amine, tri–octyl methyl ammonium chloride (TOMAC) as an extractant, was studied. The diluents chosen in the present work belong to different chemical classes, n–butyl acetate, carbon tetrachloride, isoamyl alcohol, methyl isobutyl ketone, and toluene. The effect of initial acid concentration in t...
full textl-(+)-Lactic acid production by Lactobacillus rhamnosus B103 from dairy industry waste
Lactic acid, which can be obtained through fermentation, is an interesting compound because it can be utilized in different fields, such as in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries as a bio-based molecule for bio-refinery. In addition, lactic acid has recently gained more interest due to the possibility of manufacturing poly(lactic acid), a green polymer that can replace petroleum-de...
